What do you need to fish in Florida?

I live in Ohio and me and my family are going to Pompano Beach, Florida (near Ft. Lauderdale) this year. My uncle lives down there and we were goin to go fishing. Can anyone tell me what we need in order to fish there? Do we need a fishing licence? What bait do we use? what tackle and stuff do we use? i dont know anything about fishing in the ocean.
