Will surgery be needed for cysts on my ovaries?

I have been having back pain for about a month so I went to the doctor and she wrote it off as muscular skeletal, but decided to do a urine culture and a blood test. My urine test came back negative, but my white blood cell count was 19 which it is supposed to be about 10. She said to come back in a week after being on antibiotics and so I go back to the doctor and she still thinks that its just a pulled muscle, but to be on the safe side she decides to do a pap smear since I was due for one anyways and my cervix came back negative for cancer, but she said that she could tell that my right ovary felt a little enlarged. She had my white blood cell count tested again and scheduled me for a trans vaginal ultrasound which I had on Thursday and when I had the ultrasound, both ovaries had about 10 cysts on each. My doctor had been trying to contact me all day today about my ultrasound, but I was in meetings all day for work and didn't even realize she had called me 10 times. I am just curious about why she would be calling 10 times in one day for my ultrasound unless something was wrong. I still have no information about my blood work so I have no clue what is going on. Sorry for all of that, but I was wanting to know if surgery is possible or if anybody else has been in this situation. I would just like some opinions from other people going or gone through the same thing.
