Why are people biased against teenagers?

People treat teenagers that way because we've all been there. I am 25, so I still remember my rebellious years vividly - so I give teenagers a break. However, people who are out of touch with reality and can't remember what it was like to be a teenager and their sophomoric behavior think that all kids are out of line regardless of the person's demographic and personal backgrounds.
